Anchorage is a place of stunning natural northern beauty. The city is situated in South-central Alaska. It is located at 61 degrees north and lies slightly farther north of than other great cities such as St. Petersburg, Oslo, Helsinki and Stockholm. At the same time, it is not as far north as Murmansk or Reikjavik. It lies between the two arms of the Cook Inlet (of the North Pacific Ocean) - the Tungarin Arm, a fiord, and the Knick Arm.
