YouTube For Android TV Gets A Redesign
Google has been taking its time to update the official YouTube app for Android TV. It has been over a year since a proper update was launched for the app. Well, Google has finally come through.
The update brings a major design refresh for the official YouTube app for Android TV,which should be pleasing for users.
The core structure of the app is compliant with Google’s design guidelines for Android TV apps. The navigation drawer is lighter now since the entire list of channel subscriptions and other options have been removed and repositioned elsewhere. The signed-in account can now be seen at the top making it easier for users to find out which account is signed in. There are also darker shades in the background and white backgrounds are used to highlight selected elements.
Google has also made some changes to the search interface and the video player. The video player’s big control bar has been removed so more of the video is visible even when the controls are being accessed. It is similar to the YouTube app for smartphones. Overall experience has also been improved. The YouTube for Android TV app version 2.00.16 is out now and should update on compatible Android TV-powered television sets soon.
