Florida toddler dies after half-sister leaves him in SUV for five hours  :- A 2-year-old died in Florida after his half-sister left him in a sweltering SUV for more than five hours as she worked at a day care center, authorities said.

Jacob Manchego was found unresponsive on Tuesday afternoon when his sibling, Fiorella Vanessa Silva-Tello, went to check on him.

Silva-Tello, 21, allegedly went to work at the Best Friends for Kidz day care center in suburban Tampa around 9:30 a.m., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. She left the toddler locked in a Chevy Equinox until around 2:30 p.m, according to media reports.

That’s when she found her sibling unresponsive, with witnesses saying she was distraught and asking for help.

“I see the lady running from the car with the baby’s limp, look like she was trying to get some help for the baby," witness King Bibbs told ABC affiliate WFTS-TV.

Jacob was reportedly rushed to the local hospital in extremely critical condition, but was later pronounced dead.

Temperatures in the area reached 89 degrees on Tuesday, according to The Weather Channel.

Silva-Tello is cooperating with detectives, according to police. Cops said charges have not been filed. The county medical examiner’s office and the state attorney’s office are both investigating the incident.

The Christian child care center issued a statement later that day.

In the statement obtained by ABC News, the day care said it was working with authorities, and doubted Silva-Tello intentionally killed her brother.

“Today, a sweet little boy passed away. He had a remarkable laugh, he was full of energy and he loved to give hugs,” the statement said. “His name was Jacob and he was two years old. Jacob died in a vehicle where he was forgotten in. From what we know, the cause was heat exhaustion.”

A sign at the day care reads "Look before you lock. Never leave a child alone in a car,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.
