Earthquake shakes Southcentral Alaska

Earthquake shakes Southcentral Alaska:- An earthquake struck Southcentral Alaska Monday afternoon.

Original estimates from the Tsunami Warning Center had the magnitude listed as 5.1, but minutes later, the Alaska Earthquake Information Center had it listed as a 5.3. The earthquake struck near Valdez at 1:18 p.m. Alaska time.

The quake was felt as a tremor even in Anchorage.

According to the Tsunami Warning System, the shaker was centered 55 miles southwest of Valdez.
