13-year-old suspect in Minnesota shooting arrested in Chicago:- An armed 13-year-old boy wanted for a shooting in Minnesota was arrested Wednesday by Chicago police officers downtown after they chased him to the Chicago Domestic Violence Courthouse, authorities said.
Having learned from a relative of the teen’s that he was arriving in Chicago from Minnesota on a Megabus, police went to the Megabus stop at Polk and Clinton streets in the South Loop and spotted him there around 9:30 a.m., authorities said.
When he saw the officers, the boy, who had a 9mm handgun in his waistband, ran away, authorities said. The officers caught up to the teen a few blocks away outside the courthouse, at 555 W. Harrison St., where he ran onto a ramp in a prisoner van intake area, authorities said.
There, the officers, with the help of Cook County sheriff’s deputies, arrested the teen and confiscated the gun.
Authorities said the teen was being sought in connection with a shooting that occurred Monday in St. Cloud, Minn., about 475 miles northwest of Chicago.
A 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg in an attack late Monday in St. Cloud, according to a release from the local Crimestoppers organization in the St. Cloud area. The boy’s injuries weren’t believed to be immediately life-threatening, according to police.
