1 dead, 3 wounded in shootings in Chicago
A man was killed and three others were shot in attacks in Chicago on Monday into early Tuesday, police said.
The deadly shooting occurred on the Southwest Side just after 4:15 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Artesian Avenue in the Gage Park neighborhood, police said.
A 24-year-old man was in a car when a dark SUV pulled up and a passenger began shooting, police said. The man was struck in the chest and was taken by ambulance to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The SUV drove off, and no one was reported in custody.
Earlier, two men were shot within about two minutes in separate parts of the city.
On the West Side just after 1:05 p.m. in the 800 block of North Monticello Avenue in Humboldt Park, a 24-year-old man was shot in the left leg and right knee, according to police. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
The man was outside when a man or boy came out of an alley to the east and shot him, police said.
On the Far South Side just before 1:05 p.m., an 18-year-old man suffered four gunshot wounds to the lower back in the 9700 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Rosemoor neighborhood, according to police. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was in good condition, police said.
The man was standing on the street when a man or boy wearing a maroon shirt ran up behind him and shot him, police said.
Around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday on the Northwest Side, a 30-year-old man was shot in the ear in the 1800 block of North Whipple Street in Logan Square, police said. He had gotten into a fight when the other man pulled a gun and fired.
The man was taken in good condition to Norwegian-American Hospital, police said.
