Global stocks mostly higher on U.S. Election Day:- Global stocks were mostly higher Tuesday, as the world looked to the U.S. presidential election.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.5% to 22,909.47 and the Shanghai composite index added 0.5% to finish at 3,147.89. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index lost 0.03% to close at 17,171.38.
Germany’s DAX index fell 0.1% while France’s CAC 40 and Britain’s FTSE 100 added 0.1%.
S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures were 0.1% lower while Dow Jones futures dropped 0.04%.
The Dow closed up 371 points Monday, the eve of the election, after FBI director James Comey said the agency is not recommending criminal charges against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton over her emails.
The broad market broke a nine-day losing streak, Wall Street’s longest in 36 years, as investors interpreted the news as boosting Clinton’s chance to win the tight election race with Republican challenger Donald Trump as well as clearing a legal hurdle for Clinton in the event that she does prevail on Election Day.
