OVERVIEW
NOTE OF PROTEST SINDICATO (UNION )
Mr. Bruce Edgington.
District Director.
U. S. Department of labor.
As regards your letter dated February 21, 2012 explaining the reasons why OLMS cannot
accept my protest on the elections in the SEIU Local 6. I have to following
answer:
Again this year, 2012. I am fighting under the same conditions as 4 years ago,
fighting against a corrupt and dirty election system, designed so that there is
no chance for Mr. Salinas and all his staff to lose the presidency local 6. I
am once again unemployed, expelled from my job for having protested and
demanded that the elections be conducted in an honest and fair way. It’s not
fair that a dynasty reigns and nobody does anything about it. I'm paying in high price today being
unemployed.
when I was working just a few months ago and I
intended to run as a candidate, soon I was subjected to blackmail, humiliation,
harassment, labor overload and dismissal, exactly as in 2008 when I intended to
run as candidate; however, neither in 2008 nor have I ever given up or remained
silent. I explained my complaint in every possible way. I paid for an article in
“The World International” newspaper where I made a public complaint about the
nefarious practices of SEIU Local 6. I personally sent thousands of emails to
people in Seattle to warn of this situation. I even contacted President Barack
Obama to denounce all this and he in turn appointed Patricia Fox to meet me,
and in turn, Patricia appointed you to meet me and follow up on my case.
I have paid a high price for asking for
democratic elections. How hard can it be?
Why does Sergio Salinas oppose that I run as a candidate? Why does
Sergio Salinas oppose secret ballots? Why does Sergio Salinas intimidate people
by collecting signatures with their own staff to support him? Of course, nobody wants to risk losing their
job. They have to access to the firm or any support that will ensure their job.
Why are they using the same election methods as always? Why has no one else
complained? Why do you think? Because of blackmail, persecution, harassment and
dismissal to anyone who dares to protest. I can testify that, in your letter
you mentioned legal technicalities to explain why my protest could not be
accepted, but I think they are just that, technicalities to avoid any
responsibility. But deep down, you should know that I have protested all possible
ways and no one can deny it. For many months I've been protesting and
complaining publicly about all the arbitrariness of Mr. Salinas.
For example, on October 6th 2011, I tried to
give Mr. Salinas a formal protest letter, but then he took it and threw it
without reading it. He laughed at me and said that everything was finished. There
was nothing to do and if I wanted to protest, I would have to wait another 3
years for the next election, Salinas acted with arrogance to me, hiding behind
their own corrupt system that guarantees the continuity of power. Maybe tree
chances in power are not enough? What special power does Sergio Salinas have
that he can be the only president? There
is an obvious corruption in the SEIU Local 6. Everything cannot go unpunished.
There must be a legal mechanism to assure fair opportunities to participate in
elections.
What does Mr. Salinas fear? We live in
America, land of opportunities, the most democratic nation in the world. Why do
you allow this? You can’t tell me you cannot
do anything. Of course you can. You
represent the government, law and order; you can do a lot if you really wanted
too. I have paid a high price and I risked a lot for a positive change, such
change as Barack Obama once dreamed and although it seemed impossible that an
African American could come to power, he
showed that a change was possible. But of course, it was not an easy task. He
had to struggle and fight a thousand battles, but ultimately he did it. Today,
although your letter would have demotivated and demoralized any individual,
more than ever I am ready to move on, to fight for what is right. Thousands of
workers inspire me to fight for them, not to give up, but go ahead, anyway,
I've paid a price and I will not let it all be in vain. Something must be done,
and I will do my part, and, Mr. Edgington, you must do yours. You are legally
bound to help. In this case you represent the government of the United States,
the most powerful country in the world, and if you do nothing to help, history will
judge. GOD BLESS AMERICA.
Juan Carlos Calero.
