OVERVIEW

The Tea Party Movement is one of the most dynamic protest movements to emerge in recent years. Where did it come from, what are its politics, and �who are those guys?� Is the Tea Party a spontaneous grass roots protest formed by modern �small government� idealists, a covert front for traditional right wing political and commercial interests, or a proto-fascist movement of revenge bent on reversing the perceived loss of white middle class status? The lecture will be held in the UNM Continuing Education north building in rooms B&C from 9:30-11:30am on Friday, January 21, 2011. Presenter Ramón Flores is a native of Albuquerque who earned BA in History and MA in Cultural Pluralism from Stanford University and a MFA in Directing from the Yale School of Drama. In the course of a thirty year career as a theatre director, playwright, actor, producer and teacher, Ramón has extensively researched and written on a number of historical, cultural and political issues.
