Environmental Portrait Photography Workshop with Shelby Lee Adams Work closely with photographer Shelby Lee Adams, long praised for the humanity and grace of his photographs of the people of Appalachia. This intensive 3-day workshop will explore the psychological, emotional and technical aspects of photography­-especially of people in their environments. Working closely with Shelby Lee Adams will help to develop your eye for portraiture and environment and overcome your fears of portraiture. It will include considerations of lighting techniques within a variety of environments. It includes classroom instruction, a full day of hands-on shooting on location (with lighting equipment and models) as well as reviews of students’ work. Shelby Lee, born in Kentucky, received his art education at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Massachusetts College of Art. He is the author of three books and has had his work published in a variety of magazines. He has also received many awards and is represented in a art galleries around the world. Who Should Attend: All photographers are welcome in this workshop. Students should have a good working knowledge of their cameras as well as a desire to expand their portraiture practice. Students should bring cameras and may shoot with film or digitally.
