OVERVIEW

Saturday & Sunday, August 9 & 10, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Learn how to get from your small format in-camera negatives to large format negatives suitable for contact printing using the interpositive process. We’ll cover the types of negatives needed for each of the processes in the series, and focus on creating those negatives for your upcoming classes. This class does not cover digital negatives. Please contact CPAC for information on upcoming digital negative workshops. 2) Cyanotype & Van Dyke Brown Saturday & Sunday, August 23 & 24, 10:00 am – 5:00 am This workshop will introduce you to two of the simplest yet most versatile of the historic processes. Learn the science behind the reductive iron processes, plus the basics of hand coating, contact printing, and processing. We’ll also experiment with different papers and alternative supports. 3) Gum Bichromate & Salted Paper Prints Saturday & Sunday, September 6 & 7, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm A bit more advanced than the iron processes, salt and gum printing have similar negative requirements but very different coating and processing needs. Learn the science behind the processes, the basics of hand coating and processing, then focus on the process of your choice for more in-depth experimentation. Jackie Webster has been creating photographic works for more than 25 years. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in video from the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she also completed coursework in photography. Working exclusively in traditional and historic photographic processes, Jacqueline has studied under Patricia Ambrogi at Rochester Institute of Technology and Mark Osterman at the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film.
