Almost everyone has a Facebook account, so it’s a great way for you to reach a lot of eyes with the relatively minimal effort. On top of that, it’s probably the easiest and most effective way to have your restaurant’s popularity spread by word of mouth. People trust their friends’ recommendations and tastes (for the most part… I know we all have some pretty notable exceptions there!) and Facebook is a big delivery system for that sort of information.

Most of them probably won’t care enough to stop and check out where MJ and Peter are having their date, but some of them will, and some will start to take interest when they start to see this sort of status pop up over and over again.On top of that, Facebook is probably the most effective way to get in touch with your customer base over day-to-day issues and events — like sales, specials, menu updates, or even irregular hours/closings.

Most people are rarely far from their phones and browse their Facebook feeds multiple times a day. A simple status update can reach an audience far faster than an email or website update will. Instagram I’m of the occasionally-controversial opinion that some social media sites, particularly Instagram and Twitter, are largely unnecessary to most business’s marketing strategies.The NYC restaurants view, however, are one of my few exceptions to this opinion.
