Brown was first elected to the Senate in 2006 and is currently serving his second term, having won re-election on November 6, 2012. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 6, 2012, and defeated Josh Mandel (R), John Fockler Jr. (L) and Joseph DeMare (G) in the November 6, 2012, general election. Brown is set to run for re-election in Ohio in November 2018.
