Blunt began his political career as a county official in Missouri before being elected to be Secretary of State of Missouri in 1984. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1996 to 2008.

Based on analysis of multiple outside rankings, Blunt is a more moderate right of center Republican Party vote. As a result, he may break with the Republican Party line more than his fellow members.

Biography

Blunt earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Southwest Baptist University in 1970. Two years later, he earned a master's degree in history from Missouri State University (then Southwest Missouri State University).
