John Boozman (born. December 10, 1950, in Shreveport, LA) is a Republican member of the U.S. Senate from the state of Arkansas. Boozman was first elected to the Senate in 2010. He defeated incumbent Blanche L. Lincoln (D), Trevor Drown (I) and John Laney Gray, III (G) in the general election. Boozman began his political career in the U.S. House. He won election in 2000 and served in that position until his election to the Senate in 2010.Based on analysis of multiple outside rankings, Boozman is an average Republican member of Congress, meaning he will vote with the Republican Party on the majority of bills.

Early life, education and career

Boozman was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of Marie E. (née Nichols) and Fay Winford Boozman, Jr. (1923–1991). Boozman's father, whose last address was in Rogers, Arkansas, was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. His elder brother Fay (1946–2005) also was a politician. After graduating from Northside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Boozman played football for the Arkansas Razorbacks at the University of Arkansas.
