Tennessee Law Enforcement Agent Killed

Tennessee Law Enforcement Agent Killed:MEMPHIS — An agent with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was shot to death Tuesday afternoon during an incident in Jackson, authorities say.

The agent was identified as De’Greaun “Dee” Frazier, who was been with the TBI only a matter of months.

According to Mark Gwyn, director of the TBI, Frazier was in a car with an informant and another man conducting an undercover drug purchase. The other man in the car, in a robbery attempt, shot the TBI agent, Gwyn said.

The suspect was captured a short distance from the scene.
Frazier, 35 was pronounced dead at Jackson-Madison County Hospital.
Candice Washington, 34, lives in a duplex where shooting occurred.

“I was in my kitchen cooking and I heard about four shots — I could hear them hitting the glass,” Washington told the Jackson Sun. “I laid on the ground and then when I got up I looked out the window and I saw a black Navigator parked directly in front of my house.

“I saw a black male inside of the Navigator and it looked like he had been shot, his eyes were rolled back, his head was limp,” she said. “And I saw another black male standing outside of the Navigator in the jarred door with his hands over the man’s, I guess, his wound.

“One of my neighbors went and called the police, the other went and got a towel to put on his neck,” Washington said.

Frazier is a former Millington police officer, who left the department earlier this year to join the TBI.
Millington Public Safety Director Gary Graves said Tuesday evening that Frazier had been assigned to several divisions, including investigations and as a dog handler. He also served with the local Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force.

“This is very, very rough,” Graves said. “With all of the police shootings that have gone on, it affects the officers. But this one was close to home.”
