2 indicted in killing of 2 brothers in Taunton : TAUNTON – Two men have been indicted in connection with an 8 1/2-year-old double homicide, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced Sunday.
Keith Cox, 26, of Berkley, and Matthew Lander, 28, of Swansea, were indicted for the killing of two brothers in their Taunton apartment in February 2008.
Taunton police responded to reports of shots fired at the studio apartment on Feb. 24, 2008, and found brothers Kevin Vargas, 23, and Shawn Vargas, 21, shot to death inside.
Shawn’s 4-year-old and 2-year-old sons were found uninjured in the apartment.
A Bristol County Grand Jury indicted Cox on two counts of murder and two counts of armed robbery last week. Lander was indicted on two counts of murder and one count of armed robbery.
Cox will be arraigned in Fall River Superior Court Monday while Lander will be arraigned at a later date.
The investigation, however, remains active and ongoing, the DA’s office said.
