Darwin man posts ‘ex-wife’s wedding dress’ for sale to buy fishing rod and beer:- A SOCIAL media post on a Darwin site has its readers in stitches with a bloke seemingly making a desperate plea to the local Facebook community, looking to sell his ‘ex-wife’s wedding dress’ so he can buy himself a fishing rod and some beer.
The post from Scott on ‘Darwin NT Buy, Sell, Swap & Wanted’, outlines a desperate plea to sell the $2000 wedding dress for the bargain price of $200.
The poster wrote he initially wanted to burn the gown once his divorce was finalised, but thought better of it and posted it for sale on the site.
“I was actually going to have a dress burning party when the divorce became final, but then thought some lucky bloke would be glad to pay only $200 instead of $2000 for a dress,” he told his Facebook following.
“The dress cost about $2000 that my ex-father-in-law swore up and down he would pay for, but didn’t, so I got stuck with the bill — luckily I only got stuck with his daughter for eight years.”
Scott went on to tell potential buyers about the dress, describing its “train, veil and all kinds of shiny beady things”.
“I think it’s funny that one picture makes it look like the chest plate off an Imperial Storm Trooper,” he said.
“Personally I think it looks like a $2000 shower curtain, but what do I know about this.”
Scott finished up his sales pitch urging others to snap up the bargain dress as soon as possible.
“Cheap at twice the price. Ladies, you won’t regret this. You may regret the dude you marry, but not the dress,” he said.
By 2pm Friday, almost 900 readers had ‘liked’ the post.
