2 dead, 9 wounded in city shootings, including 12-year-old boy
One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting in Humboldt Park early Saturday, Chicago police said.
The men were among 11 shot, 2 fatally, throughout the city Friday and early Saturday, including a 12-year-old boy who was injured in a self-inflicted shooting.
In the double shooting, a 38-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene, and a 28-year-old man was rushed to Stroger Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the hip, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man killed as Antonio Reyes of the 1200 block of North Campbell Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 1:09 a.m.
The men were shot while they were in an argument with another man around 12:20 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of West Division Street on the West Side, according to police.
The crime scene tape surrounded the Mas o Menos Lounge at 2539 W. Division St., and cordoned off Division Street for about a block.
About a dozen people remained inside the bar as officers spoke to patrons and searched cars parked outside, as well as an empty lot next to the bar.
Two men were detained at the scene. Police said investigators are questioning two persons of interest.
Officers walked a man out of the bar and questioned him while handcuffing him.
“I ran back inside,” the man told police. “I was scared.”
The officers led him into a police vehicle.
