Mohamed Bamba Ruled out vs. New Hampshire with Concussion
Mohamed Bamba Ruled out vs. New Hampshire with Concussion:-Texas Longhorns big man Mohamed Bamba will miss Tuesday’s game against the New Hampshire Wildcats with a concussion.
Dana O’Neil of The Athletic cited the school and reported the news.
Considering Bamba was the anchor of Texas’ 2017 recruiting class and widely expected to step in right away and help it compete in the Big 12, losing him for significant time would be a difficult blow.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, the 5-star prospect was the No. 3 overall player in his entire recruiting class.
Jeff Borzello of ESPN.com didn’t hold back before the season, noting “Bamba could be the player who changes everything for Shaka Smart at Texas” after an 11-22 effort last season.
Bamba is known for his defense and ability to defend the rim, and Borzello pointed out he also features “touch facing the basket” on the offensive side.
While it will be difficult for the Longhorns to replicate the freshman’s impact while he is out, they will likely turn toward the combination of Dylan Osetkowski, Royce Hamm and Jericho Sims in the frontcourt until he is ready to return.
