U.S. national soccer team vs. Trinidad and Tobago: Game time, TV info

U.S. national soccer team vs. Trinidad and Tobago: Game time, TV info:- One of the most significant moments in American soccer history came in Trinidad and Tobago. Back in 1989, the United States national team qualified for its first World Cup in 40 years with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a spectacular goal from Paul Caligiuri.

Everything that has followed, all the development and growth of both the game as a whole and the national team, can effectively be traced back to that moment.

If something anywhere near as memorable happens here on Tuesday night, it will probably be memorable for the wrong reasons. The U.S. would be content with a boring and routine evening to close out its CONCACAF qualifying campaign, securing either a win that would guarantee a spot in Russia next summer or a tie that would have virtually the same effect, barring a mathematical miracle in other games.

Here are the key things to look out for as Bruce Arena’s team tries to reach the World Cup for the eighth consecutive time.

TIME, TV INFO: Tuesday, 8 p.m. ET. beIN SPORTS, Universo.

LOCATION: Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.

QUALIFYING: United States (3th place, 3-3-3, 12 points). T+T (6th place, 1-8-0, 3 points).

Watch the field: Arena was not particularly impressed to see deep pools of water around the perimeter of the field at training on Monday, likely a combination of inclement weather and poor drainage. While T+T are coming off a miserable run of form, treacherous conditions could serve to narrow the natural gap in quality between the two teams.

Watch the other games: If neither Panama nor Honduras wins on Tuesday (up against Costa Rica and Mexico respectively) then the U.S. can make it through to the World Cup even if it suffers an unexpected defeat. Both challengers have had opportunities that have gone begging. Honduras, in particular, will feel it should be four points better off in the standings after surrendering a late lead to tie with the U.S. and an even later one to throw away victory against Costa Rica on Saturday. As it is, Panama and Honduras are likely battling for a playoff spot.

Watch Christian Pulisic: It will probably be the last time we see Pulisic in a competitive national team game before the World Cup, so why not feast your eyes on the talented youngster and the gifts he brings to the team? He is fearless — he showed that much against Panama on Friday — and he’s had a hand in 11 of the 14 goals the U.S. has scored during the campaign, so something is bound to happen.

Watch the clock: It has been a tough and tense couple of years for the U.S., especially since a pair to defeats opened the final round and doomed Jurgen Klinsmann. Some World Cups are smooth sailing, this one has been an obstacle course, and the players and Arena will feel a major sense of relief once it is all over. Provided the job gets done.
