Google serves up Doodle tribute to Wimbledon
Google is using its logo Monday to pay tribute to the world’s oldest tennis tournament.
The company served up an animated version of its logo on Google.com to honor the 140th anniversary of Wimbledon, which starts Monday.
The doodle features a pair of tennis rackets playing in a match on Wimbledon’s signature grass court, with the letters of the logo serving as the judge and spectators.
The animation also features Rufus the Hawk, used to keep pigeons away from the court.
The first Wimbledon championships were held in 1877, won by Spencer Gore. Seven years later, the tournament would host its first Ladies’ championship.
