Trump finds silver lining in new poll showing low approval rating
Even though two new polls show him at record-low approval ratings near the 100-day mark, President Trump tweeted on Sunday that he still would have won the 2016 elections.
"New polls out today are very good considering that much of the media is FAKE and almost always negative. Would still beat Hillary in … popular vote," Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon. "ABC News/Washington Post Poll (wrong big on election) said almost all stand by their vote on me & 53% said strong leader."
Trump was referring to the ABC News-Washington Post poll that said that 96 percent of respondents didn't regret their vote for Trump. Fewer Clinton supporters would stick around with 85 percent. This would have meant Trump would have won a hypothetical rematch 43 percent to 40 percent.
However, the poll also found Trump's approval rating to be 42 percent, which is well under an average of similar presidents near or at the 100-day mark.
The other major poll released Sunday was released by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal and showed 45 percent of respondents believe Trump is off to a poor start and his approval rating stands at 40 percent.
